Eight different versions of a document are returned to writers. |

Two draft revisions later, 3 of the 8 members of the editorial committee
are working from an outdated version which has been circulated among a sub-group

Draft posted on document library (1 for each editorial member).
Each member “checks out” the document and it is locked for additional
editing until that member checks the document back in.

Once all members have checked in their documents, the medical writing
team develops a revised draft and places it on the portal, replacing the
prior version of the document (while saving in an online repository for
future reference if necessary). |

All members now have access to the current document version. |

Edits/recommendations/comments are able to be placed on the "subsite" for
collaborative purposes without altering the document. |

Tasks can be assigned to each team member. |

All team members receive automatic e-mail alerts when the document has been revised. |
