Each member “checks out” the document and it is locked for additional
editing until that member checks the document back in.

team develops a revised draft and places it on the portal, replacing the
prior version of the document (while saving in an online repository for
future reference if necessary). |

Edits/recommendations/comments are able to be placed on the "subsite" for
collaborative purposes without altering the document. |
